Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Police say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state initial examinations show the substance was likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important representative said the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
